Minutes of Meeting for Worship for Business

Concord (NH) Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends

First Month 11, 2015

Attending:  13

1.1  The meeting opened with worship sharing on query Nº 11, “What calls you into a Religious Society?”, in §Queries for Individuals and Meeting Communities of NEYM’s 2014 Advices & Queries (Selections)

1.2  Announcements:  The clerks have received several announcements.  There will be a couples workshop in Philadelphia on Valentine’s Day weekend.  New England Yearly Meeting is looking for proposals about where to locate the NEYM archives.  Dover Quarterly Meeting has a sister meeting [La Iglesia Evangelica de Los Amigos, the Quaker church in Holguin, Cuba] and there are currently three opportunities for us to connect with Cuban Friends.

1.3  Financial Report:  Treasurer David Woolpert reported for the Finance Committee.  Our total income is $13,222, or 52% of the budget at 58% of the fiscal year.  Total expenses are $11,566.  Net income is $1,655.  There will be one more delivery of wood pellets this year.  We have not yet been billed for snow removal.  It would also be helpful if committees submitted their expenses for reimbursement in a timely manner.

1.4  Kakamega Care Centre Fundraising:  The coffee, calendar and chocolate sales to support the Kakamega Care Centre are approximately $250.  The bake sale will bring in some additional funds which will bring us up to the $300 that we need to send.  There is a $116 carryover in the fund from last year.

1.5  Outreach Committee:  The Outreach Committee met with Beth Collea as part of an outreach pilot plan being sponsored by NEYM.  Monthly outreach programs in Concord will begin with parents attending the Meeting and then hopefully expand to include parents in the greater community.  Beth will facilitate the first First Sunday program on conflict resolution.

Plans are underway for a booth at the Canterbury Fair in July 2015.

We will be looking for ways to support the college students who attend meeting and to reach out to other students.

The Committee will be reporting monthly to Meeting for Business.

1.6  Ministry and Counsel Report:  Ministry & Counsel Committee will be printing pamphlets on the new Advices & Queries (Selections), and updating the contact list.  The State of Society report will be discussed at Fourth Sunday in January.  The Friendly Assistance proposal is in the works.  The memorial minute committee for Susan Chambers will be Greg Heath, Ruth Heath, Linda Chynoweth Peters and Kathy Urie.

1.7  The meeting closed with a period of worship.
