Minutes of Meeting for Worship for Business

Concord (NH) Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends

Twelfth Month 13, 2015

Attending:  12

12.1  The meeting opened with worship followed by the reading of advice #2 on corporate discernment from Interim Faith and Practice 2014.

12.2  Eleventh Month Minutes:  The Eleventh Month minutes were accepted as corrected:  the deletion of an extraneous “to” in line four of minute 2015.11.1, and to change the second sentence of minute 2015.11.3 to read: “We have received 38% of our contributions and we are at 42% of our spending goal.”

12.3  Financial Report:  Total income through November 30th is $11,187; total expense is $9,564; net income is $1,623.  Our overall expenses are as expected and budgeted.  The treasurer noted that contributions are at 45% while the fiscal year is at 50% so those who are planning on making end-of-the-tax-year gifts are encouraged to do so.

The Meeting donated $765 to the NH Program of the AFSC that was earned by the Rise Again singalong fundraiser.

12.4  Woolman Hill Search:  A letter from the board of Woolman Hill was read. They are searching for those who might be called to serve on that board.

12.5  Dover Quarter Program for Fourth Month 2016:  Jay Smith, clerk of Dover Quarterly Meeting, would like feedback from members on the QM program that will be held first Sunday in April.  The speaker would be Peterson Toscano.

12.6  Granite State Organizing Project:  Mark Barker attended the pre-organizing meeting of the Granite State Organizing Project (GSOP).  Organizing Projects begin with training on how to conduct a “listening campaign” to first find out the needs of the community. The first organizing meeting will be in January for anyone who is interested.  Other friends spoke on their experiences with other local Organizing Projects.

If Concord Meeting were to join as a group, there would be a membership fee and an obligation to have representatives attending the monthly meetings.

12.7  First Friday Singalongs:  Ruth Heath and Sara Smith inquired about the Meeting’s interest in a monthly singalong at the Meetinghouse.  Friends are interested in sponsoring this on First Fridays starting in February 2016.

12.8  Heating System Monitoring:  If the Meetinghouse had Internet service, then we could have a system that would notify us if the heating system is not functioning, although someone would have to come in to fix the problem.  Another option would be a battery back-up system that would keep the system functioning.  Friends approved referring this to Property Committee for a recommendation.

12.9  The meeting closed with worship.
