Minutes of Meeting for Worship for Business

Twelfth Month 8, 2002

Concord (NH) Monthly Meeting gathered in a regularly called Meeting for Worship for Business on the date above stated at the Merrimack Valley Day Care Center, Concord, NH.  Attenders and Members present were:  Betsy Cazden (M), Recording Clerk Graham Chynoweth (M), David Freeman-Woolpert (M), Treasurer Ruth Heath (M), Jeanie Holt (M), Richard Kleinschmidt (M), Zane Knoy (A), Jean London (M), Jay Smith (M), Presiding Co-Clerk Louise Spencer (M), Rob Spencer (M).

The Meeting opened with prayerful silence and a reminder by the Presiding Co-Clerk that Meeting for Business is a meeting for God’s business.

Minute 2002.1

12.1  Treasurer’s Report  Our Treasurer reported that with 50% of the fiscal year passed (06/01/02 to 12/08/02), 46% of the yearly budgeted income has been received.  Such income includes previous years’ general fund carry forward of $2,131.07.

12.2  Quiet Helpers.  “Quiet Helpers: Quaker Service in Postwar Germany” is a traveling exhibit presented by the AFSC New England Regional Office at the Boston Public Library1/04/03 to 2/26/03.  NEYM Salem Quarter and AFSC NERO has asked the Meeting for a contribution in support of such presentation.  The Meeting recognizes the importance of remembering contributions of Quakers in post- war Germany and expressed great interest in the presentation.  The Treasurer is authorized to accept special collection donations through 2/26/03 in support of the presentation.  An informal workgroup for travel arrangements to visit the presentation was discussed.  The workgroup will be coordinated through David Freeman-Woolpert and Ruth Heath.

12.3  Robert Nichols.  Meeting member Robert Nichols died at his Contoocook home on 11/29/02.

12.4  Robert Nichols Memorial Meeting.  Preliminary arrangements have been made and Ministry and Counsel Committee recommends a Memorial Meeting for Worship for Robert Nichols for third first day (12/15/02), 6:00 p.m., at Havenwood Retirement Community.  Concord Meeting approved, with arrangements through Ministry and Counsel Committee.

12.5  Robert Nichols Additional Memorial Meeting.  The Meeting may hold an additional Memorial Meeting for Robert Nichols at the NH State Prison.  As way opens, arrangements will be made.

We adjourned after a period of silent worship purposing, with Divine assistance, to meet, 2nd First Day of next Month.
