Minutes of Meeting for Worship for Business

Concord (NH) Monthly Meeting

Religious Society of Friends

3rd Month 12, 2006

(As approved 4/9/06)

Concord (NH) Monthly Meeting gathered in a regularly called Meeting for Worship for Business, on the date above stated, at the Merrimack Valley Day Care Center, Concord, NH.  Friends present were Don Booth, Lois Booth, Graham P. Chynoweth, David Freeman-Woolpert, Rich Kleinschmidt (recording clerk pro tem), Jay Smith, Sara Smith (clerk), Kathy Urie.

The meeting was opened by the clerk with a period of worshipful silence.

3.1  Minutes.  The minutes from 2005 12th Month and 2006 1st Month were corrected and approved.  The scheduled 2nd Month Meeting for Business was cancelled due to heavy snow.

3.2  Financial Report.  To date, we have received $8,210 in donations, and we have spent $7,599.  Last June we approved a budget with expenditures of $15,844.  However housing committee does not expect to spend the $3,000 budgeted for their use so the finance committee anticipates expenses of less than $13,000 for the year.  Nevertheless donations are running behind anticipated expenses.  We can pay our expenses even if donations fall short because we have some $3,000 from previous surpluses and a $1,500 cash reserve.  Friends should take heed and respond appropriately.

3.3  State of Society.  Ministry and Counsel presented a draft State of Society report.  We agreed on appropriate revisions.  Graham will incorporate these changes and produce the final draft.  We felt that the report accurately reflects the state of our Meeting and addresses the 2005 events while incorporating a longer term perspective.  A copy of the report will be attached.

3.4  Newsletter.  In absence of others to take on the task, Jay and Sara will produce an occasional newsletter and calendar.  Friends suggested that the newsletter might include occasional memoirs – perhaps addressing: “where I’m at spiritually and how I got there.”  Friends noted that Susan Chambers has written a piece that would be an appropriate start for this series.

The meeting ended with a period of worshipful silence, purposing to meet again on the second First Day of Fourth Month or at the call of the clerk.

Respectfully Submitted,

/s/ Richard Kleinschmidt, Recording Clerk pro tem
