Minutes of Meeting for Worship for Business

Concord (NH) Monthly Meeting

Religious Society of Friends

11th Month 12, 2006

(As approved 12/10/06)

Concord (NH) Monthly Meeting gathered in a regularly called Meeting for Worship for Business at the Merrimack Valley Day Care Center in Concord, NH.  Friends present were Lois Booth, Susan Chambers, Graham P. Chynoweth, David Freeman-Woolpert, Dick Gerstenberger, Martha Gerstenberger, Ruth Heath (treasurer), Rich Kleinschmidt (recording clerk), Zane Knoy, Sara Smith (clerk), Kathy Urie

The meeting was opened by the clerk with a period of worshipful silence.

11.1  Minutes.  The minutes from 2006 10th Month were approved as revised.

11.2  Treasurer.  The treasurer advised us that contributions are needed.  So far we have received only $950, but spent $3,600.  Putting it another way:  we have completed about 40% of the year, and held expenses to 27% of the budgeted expenses, but we have only collected 7% of the $13,000 of contributions that we budgeted for.  The treasurer realizes that many people contribute with one large check, but without contributions coming in, it will be difficult to meet expenses.

11.3  Ministry and Counsel.  The committee on Ministry and Counsel recommended that the committee become “a committee of the whole” rather than have a smaller group serve the Meeting in that capacity.  The current committee has felt dispirited. It has been difficult to find times to meet, and when meetings have been called, they have not been well attended.

The Meeting heard the concerns and then asked the Nominating Committee to investigate and prayerfully prepare a recommendation for our business meeting next month.

11.4  Youth Religious Ed. The committee has set the time and date for our annual Christmas party.  On 12/17, following worship, we will proceed to the home of Roberta and Adelaide Nichols (364 Dustin Road, Contoocook).

The committee also reported that the youth decided that proceeds from Calendar sales will be used to support an AIDS orphanage project in Kenya.

The meeting ended with a period of worshipful silence, purposing to meet again on the second First Day of Twelfth Month or at the call of the clerk.

Respectfully Submitted,

/s/ Richard Kleinschmidt, Recording Clerk

Accepted as the Approved Record,

/s/ Sara Smith, Clerk
