Minutes of Meeting for Worship for Business

Concord (NH) Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends

2nd Month 11, 2007

Concord (NH) Monthly Meeting gathered in a regularly called Meeting for Worship for Business at the Merrimack Valley Day Care Center in Concord, NH.  Friends present were Don Booth, Lois Booth, Graham P. Chynoweth, David Freeman-Wolpert, Greg Heath, Rich Kleinschmidt (recording clerk), Zane Knoy, Kathy Mercer, Linda C. Peters, Jay Smith, Sara Smith (clerk), Kathy Urie.

The meeting was opened by the clerk with a period of worshipful silence.

2.1  Minutes.  The minutes from 2007 1st Month were revised and approved.

2.2  Committee on Care of the Meeting.  The committee will undertake drafting a State of Society report for the Meeting’s consideration.  The next meeting will be 7:15 on 2/21 at the Havenwood home of Don and Lois Booth.

2.3  Treasurers Report.  A Treasurers report was circulated.  The report showed $5,948 in donations, toward our fiscal year budget of $13,000. The Treasurer has disbursed $6,618 to pay expenses.

2.4  Feasibility Committee.  The ad hoc Feasibility Committee appointed two months ago [12.3] reported back to us.  They reported that $235,000 would available for a building project (or $208,000 plus the donation of a building site).

2.5  Brokerage Account.  We asked the Finance Committee to open a brokerage account to enable the Meeting to receive donations of securities.

2.6  Housing Committee.  We focused our worship on the question of whether we should move forward with one of the three proposed building plans.  Following a prayerful and wide-ranging meeting, we reached unity that, after decades of consideration, we are called to move forward with plans to build a meeting house.  We authorized the Housing Committee to pursue plans to partner with the Appalachian Teen Project to develop plans for a legal relationship, town permitting and building schedule to build on their site in Canterbury.

The meeting ended with a period of worshipful, grateful silence, purposing to meet again on the second First Day of Third Month or at the call of the clerk.

Respectfully submitted,

/s/ Richard Kleinschmidt, Recording Clerk

Accepted as the approved record when signed,
