Minutes of Meeting for Worship for Business

Concord (NH) Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends

3rd Month 2, 2008

Concord (NH) Monthly Meeting gathered for a called Meeting for Worship for Business at the Merrimack Valley Day Care Center in Concord, NH.  Friends present were Alisa Barnard, Don Booth, Lois Booth, Graham P. Chynoweth, Linda Chynoweth, Kate Daniels, David Freeman-Woolpert, Christopher Haines (an architect from Fresh Pond Meeting), Don King (our architect from Amoskeag Architectural Group), Rich Kleinschmidt (recording clerk), Ruth Heath (treasurer), Greg Heath, Jay Smith, Sara Smith (clerk), Rob Spencer, Kathy Urie.

The meeting was opened by the clerk with a period of worshipful silence.

3.1  Minutes.  The minutes of 2/10/2008 were corrected and approved.

3.2  Treasurer.  The Treasurer reported the status of the Meeting House Fund:

3.3  Mutual Aid Fund.  We approved use of the Mutual Aid Funds to help Roberta Nichols with her illness.

3.4  Housing Committee.  The committee reported on the project.  They have paid another professional to examine the contractor’s estimate, and they are exploring possible ways to reduce the projected cost.  They are meeting Thursday with AMTP to discuss details of the land transfer.  Following wide ranging discussion, we prayerfully how and whether we are called to proceed.  We then approved the following minutes:

3.5  “Our Meeting affirms the process of soliciting pledges up to $600,000 for the new Meeting House Project.  Jay Smith asked to be recorded as standing aside on the question of whether we should commit so many resources to this project.”

3.6  We approved $1,300 from the Meeting House Fund for use by the Fund Raising Committee.

3.7  “Our Meeting affirms the process of Housing Committee’s continued acquiring of information for all building possibilities.  The committee is authorized to spend funds for information to come to a clear commitment on a design.”

Our meeting ended with a period of worshipful, grateful silence, purposing to meet again on the second First Day of Third Month or at the call of the clerk.
