Minutes of Meeting for Worship for Business

Concord (NH) Monthly Meeting

Religious Society of Friends

1st Month 8, 2012

Concord (NH) Monthly Meeting gathered in Meeting for Worship for Business at the Oxbow Pond Meetinghouse. Friends present were:  14

The meeting began with a period of silent worship.

1.1  Twelfth Month Minutes:  The meeting reviewed and approved the Minutes from the Twelfth Month Business Meeting.  There was no Business Meeting in Eleventh Month.

1.2  Financial Report:  Dave Woolpert presented the Finance Report and passed out an Operating vs. Actual Budget presentation.  With up to the minute contributions recorded, we have $11,475 donated and have spent $8,712.  However, $4,931 of the expenditures should not have been reported as operating expenses.  They were Housing Fund expenses for the playground, landscaping, and furnishings.  This brings the $8,712 down to only $3,781 spent so far this year from the operating budget.

1.3  Membership:  Ministry and Counsel brought a letter of request for transfer of membership of Jann Sparks from Westport Monthly Meeting.  We enthusiastically accepted her into membership and our spiritual family.

1.4  Ministry and Counsel:  In follow-up to our previous month discussion (minute 2011.12.3) on how to do more in-reach and outreach, the clerk asked us for any further thoughts for Ministry and Counsel to use in their upcoming meeting where they will think more about this:

  • Sara is interested in meeting with a local Transition Committee that may be forming.  We asked her to attend in our name to bring us more information.
  • Some members also asked Ministry and Counsel consider offering an “Awakening the Dreamer” workshop as a form of in-reach or outreach.  We named Sara Smith and Ruth Heath as a working group to explore this; other interested people should contact them.
  • A Meeting retreat was suggested and David Woolpert offered to serve on a planning committee.
  • There was an admonishment that we pay attention to the spiritual needs of members, and that this is the role of not just Ministry and Counsel but each of us, in order to tend the health of our spiritual family.

The Meeting closed with silence.

Respectfully submitted,

Ruth Heath, acting Recording Clerk

Greg Heath, co-Clerk.
