24/22  Minutes of July 31We do not have minutes from our July meeting.  [Minutes of July meeting were found and accepted at Dover Quarterly Meeting on 2023-01-29.]

25/22  Treasurer’s report — Not much activity.  There is a donation from Gonic, thank you.  12 cents in dividend.  $672 in checking account, $811 restricted account.

26/22  Update on minister’s gathering

The hoped-for Ministers’ gathering in NE did not take shape.  Original date conflicted with Falmouth Quarterly Meeting.  As many ministers are in that quarter, the Oct. 15 date was not a useful choice.  The clerk will consult on finding an alternative date sometime after mid-January, 2023.

27/22  Reports from monthly meetings

Concord – Concord Friends will be adding sound absorption materials in fellowship room.  They are having gatherings to share their spiritual journeys with each other.  First meetings were outdoors, so that didn’t work for Friends joining online.  This has brought their collective spiritual life to a deeper level.  Friends have learned that a parcel of land across the street is coming up for sale.  They are in discernment about a purchase, for possible use as a memorial garden.  First Day School is starting up again.

Dover – Dover Friends are excited that the National Fund for Sacred Places has awarded them a $50,000 matching grant for their sanctuary renovations.  The Quarter was introduced to the Dover Dollhouse Friends Meeting and the hopes to send two “travelers” to our sister meeting in Cuba, complete with a travel minute.  It was noted that the themes in the Children’s Meeting (formerly known as First Day School) and the adult Meeting for Worship have often shown remarkable parallels.

Gonic – None

New England Evangelical Friends, Nashua – None

North Sandwich – Susan reported that their numbers are diminishing.  They are considering closing for the winter but will meet in November.  Three Friends attended today; two last week.  They haven’t had a child in the children’s room for a year.  The Friends participated in Crop Walk. Working toward a better time.  They will do a Thanksgiving Open House.

Souhegan Worship Group – A number of Friends have had COVID and they are recovering.  Attendance is increasing as Friends’ health improves and a several visitors have gathered with them for worship.

Weare/Henniker – They have welcomed a Friend who is a transfer from the San Jose Meeting.  A real estate issue is under consideration.  There is a meetinghouse in South Pittsfield, built in early 1900’s, where the meeting was laid down.  The structure needs maintenance and repairs. A rough estimate of immediate work to be done is $20,000.  They are discerning the future of this building and hope to find local interest.  There are many complicating factors around the title and how to proceed.  They have sought out the guidance of NEYM.  Marian Baker joined from Kenya.

West Epping – None

28/22  Beacon Hill Friends House — Kathy Urie is the Dover Quarter representative to Beacon Hill Friends House.  A group trip will be organized to BHFH in the spring.

29/22  Vocational Discernment Projecthttps://bhfh.org/bhfh-discern/

30/22  Woolman Hill News — This is a vital resource for Friends in New England and beyond.  They are hoping for some new board members.  Interested Friends could speak with Heidi Babb or go to the website — http://woolmanhill.org/

31/22  Next Meeting — We adjourned, promising to meet next on 29th January 2023.  The location has yet to be chosen.
