Canterbury Fair 2019-07-27 (Last Saturday in July)

There will be two people at each shift.  One person to work with children’s table, the other to be available to adults. 

Outreach is putting together a tub of materials to take, along with:

  • Popup Tent  - maintenance room
  • Weights for tent (in shed – code is xxxx)
  • 4 folding chairs and 3 kids chairs
  • 6-ft. table - maintenance room
  • Child-height folding table with white vinyl cover (right kids room folded) – may be needed or not
  • Sign to put into lawn (“Peaceful Place – Free ice water”; FCNL “Love Thy Neighbor” sign)
  • Peace flags to put up on tent - and line to add more – clips/clothespins to attach them
  • Water cooler (you can refill from Thomas and Lynda’s house) – Sara will bring and buy ice at Fair
  • Small cups
  • Tub with kids materials and outreach  materials

Our goal is to offer information if people are interested.

  • Offer business card with our values and contact info; and “You Are Welcome Here” rack card 
  • Show pictures of meeting activities in the picture albums
  • Mention :Commitment to social justice issues and peace and
  • Witness based on our faith
  • And especially to offer the simple, free kids’ activity (hoping to interest families in the Meeting). Emphasize we have a small but active children’s program with committed teachers. 

Kids activity:  Making peace flags. Use light colored cloth, unless using dark marker/stamp

  • Can either trace outline or color in stencils (tape to cloth, tape cloth to tray).  Use fabric markers, or
  • Use stamps and stamp pads to create design, and/or
  • Use fabric markers to write “Peace” in several languages
  • Fold this fabric piece over a 2 ft. length of green cord, staple and take home.
